Objectives

· Students recognize the five elements of art within photographs
· Enable students to recreate the five elements of art in their own original works and photographs
· Using photo shop, create a doctored photograph
· Using the internet or other media to find photograph that demonstrates elements of art.

Activities
Students first define each of the elements of art in general and then set out to find and discuss these elements in their surroundings. A professional photographer introduces them to the use of these elements in photography by showing them his/her own example of pictures demonstrating the five elements. Next students spend the day finding examples of each element online or in magazines and other media sources. Next students take their cameras out into the community to capture each element on film with the skills learned from the photographer in class and from finding their own examples. The students have one day to complete the picture taking process on campus and in the classroom.
Next students have the remainder of the week to create using photoshop a doctored photo that highlights the element of art the photo is supposed to demonstrate, and find online an example of a professional photo that demonstrates the element of art.

Every student is respondsible for turning in each of the following:
1. An original photo for each of the five elements of art.
2. A photo shop photo that is created from the original that highlights the element of art portrayed in the original. One photo for each of the five elements.
3. A professional photograph (from online or magazine) that demonstrates each element of art.
Total of 17 pieces by the end of the week.
